African Flower / Paperweight Crochet – Petite Purse

IMG_20150425_093627

This crochet flower is so easy to make. There are many videos and instructions on the Internet for making this motif. I found instructions at Craft Passion.

For my niece’s birthday gift, I made this purse putting together just 6 motifs. The design sort of evolved as it went along. I did not follow a pattern, but put together a slideshow illustrating the construction for anyone that would like to make it.

Enjoy!

Grafting together my African Flower Afghan

IMG_20150422_092425

Previously I always crocheted or sewed my granny squares together. Then I saw LisaPlus3’s YouTube video demonstrating the grafting technique. The result reminds me of a book binding or hinge and makes a lovely finish to time-intensive afghan. I took pictures of the steps and placed them in this slide show.

Please comment on your experiences with either grafting or joining crocheted squares.

The Crochet Crowd Mystery Afghan

A big thank you to Mikey and TheCrochetCrowd for another fun challenge!

There is layering, roped joins, and an amazing border built over several rows. I used Caron Simply Soft yarn in Blue Mint, Robin Egg, Sunshine Yellow, and Sage Green.
